Douglas Wood

Douglas Wood, author, artist, musician, naturalist, wilderness guide as a writer of books for children and adults has nearly two million copies in print. Douglas has authored familiar children’s book of "Can't Do" series as well as the classics Old Turtle and Grandad's Prayers of the Earth. Among his many honours and awards have been the Christopher Medal, ABBY Award, International Reading Association Book of the Year, Minnesota Book Award, Midwest Publishers Association Book of the Year, Parent's Choice Award, Barnes and Noble Star of the North, and Story Telling World Award. His newest picture book Nothing to Do finds a child exploring the pleasures of an unstructured day. Self-Published Night

We are planning a very special event this evening! Four self-published authors will be joining us to talk about their publishing experiences and why they chose this route. Have you ever wanted to write a book? Then this is the session for you. A representative from Spotted Cow Press will also be with us to explain the ins and outs of printing your own book. A special rate for students this night - $4.00. Authors include Kamilla Reid, author of The Questory of Root Karbunkulas, Shane Gauthier, Don Meredith and Marty Chan! Please join us and bring your friends.

Martin Springett

Martin Springett is an illustrator, musician, and author who has worked with many diverse artists over the years. Fans of Guy Gavriel Kay may recognize his work, as he did the original covers for The Fionavar Tapestry novels. He recently has done cover work for Caitlin Sweet's A Telling of Stars and some musical projects. On of his recent releases is the book, Jousting with Jesters: An ABC for the Younger Dragon. Martin has won several wards, the most distinguished being the Governor General's Award for his illustration of the book, Who. Join us to learn about Martin Springett and his career!
